Privacy Policy

Short version
We collect the minimum data needed to run a public paid ranking board. We do not sell your data, do not use third-party ad networks, and do not track you across other sites. Payment data is handled entirely by PayPal — we never see your card number.
What we log
- Page views. For click counts and rank statistics. Stored as a daily-rotating one-way SHA-256 hash of IP + user-agent. The raw IP is never written to our database.
- Bid history. Every bid is public on the leaderboard — that's the product. This includes amount, listing URL, and timestamp. No personal identity is attached.
- PayPal transaction IDs. Stored server-side so we can look up a payment for support cases. Not shown publicly.
What we do NOT collect
- Raw IP addresses.
- Persistent cross-session identifiers (the visitor hash rotates every day).
- Card numbers or PayPal credentials — those never touch our servers; PayPal handles them.
- Names, emails, or accounts — shelflife does not require account signup.
- Behavioral tracking cookies or ad-network pixels.
Cookies
shelflife itself sets no cookies. PayPal may set cookies during the checkout flow — those are governed by PayPal's privacy policy.
Third-party services
- PayPal — processes payments. Their terms and privacy policy apply to the payment leg of your transaction.
- WordPress mshots — generates screenshot thumbnails when a submitted URL has no valid Open Graph image. We send them the public URL you submitted; they render a screenshot and return an image.
Data retention
Public bid + listing data is retained indefinitely — it is the historical record of the board. Visitor hashes are retained for click-uniqueness enforcement and rolling analytics; individual hash rows have no long-term value because the hashing seed rotates daily.
Your rights
If you are the owner of a URL that appears on shelflife and want it removed, contact us — see the Terms of Service §2 for removal criteria. If you are in a jurisdiction with data-protection rights (EU/UK/California), you may request confirmation of what data we hold about you and request deletion.
Changes
We may update this policy as the product evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent change.
